Medical Aid for Cuba Movie Screening

Trump’s tightening his chokehold on the Cuban people. Let’s give a helping hand by watching “We were Strangers” and donating! All proceeds go towards Global Health Partners.

Set in 1932 Cuba, this 1949 film by John Huston depicts a group of revolutionaries who try to bring down their corrupt government. Critic Frank Miller noted the film is “a barely disguised indictment of U.S. foreign policy” as well as a study of “the poetry of failure” typical of Huston’s style. Stirring controversy due to its release during the Red Scare, the film was withdrawn from theaters shortly after release. Sponsored by the Elizabeth Gurley Flynn Club of the Communist Party USA and the Niebyl-Proctor Marxist Library.
